Review on 'Thirteen Reasons Why'

Beautiful. Overwhelming. Intense. Heart Breaking.

Life Changing.

Jay Asher's 'Thirteen Reasons Why' is THE book to read if you could read just one novel in your lifetime. You must be thinking : 'What's so great in this book?'

Allow me to explain further. Thirteen Reasons Why isn't just a YA piece of fiction that is forgotten after a few days of obsession. It's those kind of books that will haunt you probably for the rest of your lives because this book right here will make you think twice before making a decision.

"Will this affect people in the wrong way?" Is what will always be on your mind.

It could be some kind of list.... you know, those Hot or Not lists. It could be using someone. It could be spreading a rumor.

Chances are you have already done this to someone or the other.

You'll regret having done that after reading this book. A sudden change will come over you. In the process of reading, you'll probably break down, feel like screaming or.... just can't read it for a while.

But in the end, you'll emerge as a better person. The journey is tough, believe me. Possibly it won't let you sleep at night. But you'll become someone who's aware, someone who is genuinely capable of saving many people from pain and shatter.

I recommend this to adolescents because it's a book based on the wars going on inside us at every point. The usual stress of home, school, peers. Bullying, alcohol, drugs, sexual abuse. Stuff that is considered as everyday activities now days. Issues that can't be really solved generally but can be helped with individually.

It somehow brings you back to reality, if you read more of dystopic, romcoms, sci fi, fantasy fiction. Like a slap on the face that wakes you up, trembling.

And that slap on the face is definitely needed.

I'd rate this a 4.6 on 5. A must read.

Cheers.
