Disconnecting From Music

Reassuring beats and voices
Flow through my headphones
Trying to help with adversities
Trying to soothe fresh bruises
And I am hopelessly lost

I hopelessly believe that
My hindering thoughts
About my fragile and weak self
Are just incorrect
But when I disconnect
Reality slaps me in the face

That I'm nothing but a speck of dust
Nothing but a bug that gets trampled
A sigh of exhaustion escapes my lips
As my casual thoughts circle my brain
I carry on with the world
Pushed by the freezing waves.
